You are currently viewing Welcoming 2026 with Intention

There is something powerful about standing at the edge of a new year. Time feels softer here. The past year has not fully released us and the new one has not yet made its demands. This in between space invites reflection, honesty, and choice.

As we move into 2026, we are also supported by the energy of the full moon. Full moons illuminate what has been hidden and help us bring cycles to completion. They offer a natural moment to pause, release, and consciously choose what we are ready to carry forward.

Rather than rushing into resolutions or expectations, this is an invitation to begin the year with intention. Gently. Simply. In a way that feels true to you.

Pause and Reflect on What You Are Leaving Behind

Before calling anything new in, it helps to acknowledge what this past year has held. Take a few quiet moments to reflect without judgment.

If you would like a deeper container for this process, I shared a previous post on ending the year with ritual. Here is a link to that post: Closing the Year with Intention. That practice is designed to help you consciously close cycles, honor what has been, and create space for what is ready to emerge.

Here are some simple ways you can also reflect:

-What did this year teach me?

-What am I proud of myself for surviving or creating?

-What no longer fits who I am becoming?

With the full moon as support, consider writing down what you are ready to release. Old patterns. Beliefs. Relationships with yourself that feel heavy or outdated. You can keep this practice symbolic and gentle. Even naming it is enough.

Journal With Intention for the Year Ahead

Once you have created space, you can begin to listen for what wants to come in.

Instead of focusing on goals alone, try journaling from a place of feeling and alignment.

Some prompts to explore:

-How do I want to feel in 2026?

-What qualities do I want to embody more fully?

-What would feeling safe, supported, and fulfilled look like in my daily life?

-What am I calling in more of this year?

Let your writing be intuitive rather than perfect. This is not about planning every detail. It is about tuning into your inner guidance and allowing clarity to arise.

Create a Vision Board That Reflects Energy, Not Pressure

Vision boards can be a beautiful way to anchor your intentions visually. The key is to let it be inspiring rather than overwhelming.

As you create your board, focus on images and words that evoke how you want to live and feel. Peace. Expansion. Creativity. Ease. Connection. Whatever resonates with you.

Your vision board does not need to be elaborate or public. It can live quietly in a journal, on your phone, or in a private space in your home. Its purpose is to remind your nervous system what you are moving toward, not to demand that you arrive there immediately.

Set One or Two Anchoring Intentions

Instead of long lists of resolutions, choose one or two intentions that can guide your year.

An intention might sound like:

-I choose to move through 2026 with more trust and softness.

-I am open to receiving support and abundance.

-I commit to honoring my body and my truth.

Intentions are meant to be returned to again and again. They offer direction without rigidity and compassion without pressure.

Honor the Transition

This moment between years is sacred in its own quiet way. Light a candle. Step outside and look at the moon. Take a deep breath and acknowledge yourself for being here.

You do not need to have everything figured out. Beginning the year with awareness, honesty, and intention is more than enough.

As 2026 unfolds, may you allow yourself to move at your own pace, guided by what feels aligned, supportive, and true for you.
